Crystal received her Bachelor of Science degree in Poultry Science from Texas A&M University in August 2003. She joined the Stephen F. Austin State University Agriculture Department in June 2004 as a Graduate Assistant. In December 2005, Crystal obtained her Master of Science in General Agriculture with emphasis in Poultry Management. She was later hired as a Research Associate for the Poultry Science Department in January 2006. After eight months in that position she was promoted to Poultry Research Supervisor in September 2006. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in Poultry Management at Texas A&M University.

Crystal instructs PLS 252 and lab, Poultry Selection and Evaluation, during the fall semester. She also coaches the SFASU Collegiate Poultry Judging Team. The team competes each year at the National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest and the U.S. Egg and Poultry Judging Contest. Also, Crystal serves as the Poultry Science Club Advisor and is a member of the scholarship selection committee. Her professional memberships include the Poultry Science Association and Texas Poultry Federation.

Her duties as Poultry Research Supervisor require that she serve as a liaison between the university and research sponsors. She also oversees the day to day operation of the Poultry Research Center. After each research trial is completed, it is her responsibility to generate a scientific report to distribute to research sponsors and research investigators.

Personally, Crystal has had many exciting changes. On July 4, 2006, her boyfriend of six and half years proposed! Her fiancé, Lance Taylor, is currently the head boys’ basketball and baseball coach at Martinsville High School in Martinsville, TX. They are excitedly planning and awaiting there wedding on July 28, 2007.
