The poultry research house has 96 5x10 floor pens that are adjustable to about any configuration desired. The facility is divided into two identical 48 pen environments with a lab and feed receiving room in the center. Ventilation is provided by two 48 inch exhaust fans on each end of the sections. Temperature is maintain on each end by 3 230,000 Btu force air heaters and two cool cells. Negative pressure ventilation is also utilized by vent boards stationed along the eves of the house. Curtains are controlled by two separate curtain machines. Water is provided by either bell drinkers or nipple drinkers. Feed is provided by means of two 40 lb. capacity tube feeders per pen. All environmental systems are control by two separate computerized Rotem® units, thus allowing two completely controllably environments within the house. (See Enviromental Control description).
