Dr. Cherry has owned his own veterinary practice, worked in the poultry industry as a poultry veterinarion, worked for an animal health company in research and technical services, and provides consulting on the use of coccidiosis vaccines in poultry. He has extensive experience in the United States, Mexico, South America, Canada, and Asia. He teaches Introductory Poultry Science, Advanced Poultry Science, Applied Poultry Science, Animal Nutrition, and Suburban Companion Animals.

Dr. Cherry advises Poultry Science and Pre-Vet Majors. He also is the faculty advisor for the Orthodox Christian Fellowship. His hobbies are raising Braunvieh and Angus cattle, RVing, and cruising the Texas Coast.

He has been married to his wife, Barbara, for over 27 years and has a son, Robert and Daughter, Sultana.
